Member opportunity to be part of First Nations historic human rights tribunal hearing

On Monday February 25, 2013, one of the most important human rights tribunals in Canada will begin at the Canadian Human Rights Commission in Ottawa. 

The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada has filed a human rights complaint against the federal government, alleging that Canada’s failure to provide equitable and culturally-based child welfare services to First Nations’ children on-reserve amounts to discrimination on the basis of race and ethnic origin.

Caring Society Executive Director Cindy Blackstock spoke at the and still we rise conference this week and released the video ‘Letters to Canada’ which gives voice to First Nations’ children and youth on why this historic human rights case matters to them and the Canada they want to grow up in.
